CMA CGM and THALASSA together on a Round the World Tour

CMA CGM is pleased to announce the premier of Thalassa’s World Tour series that begins Friday, September 28 at 8:55 p.m. on France 3.

Georges Pernoud, host of the well-known French TV show Thalassa, will kick off this one-of-a-kind world tour from the bridge of the CMA CGM CHOPIN, a 5,700-TEU container ship linking Asia and the Mediterranean.

Sailing from Le Havre to New York, Thalassa’s season premier is the first in a series of thirteen episodes produced on board CMA CGM container ships.

Taking to the sea, Thalassa will tell the story of life on board CMA CGM vessels. At the crossroads of the Earth’s great maritime trade routes, the show will follow the path of globalization to offer a unique perspective on peoples and regions of the world.

The 40,000-km expedition will call on 22 of the world’s largest ports including Panama, Sydney and Shanghai. “During a recent meeting together, we discussed the possibility of organizing a major world tour on board a CMA CGM container ship as a great way to chronicle our world,” explains George Pernoud.

“CMA CGM was eager to take part in this adventure to show viewers the fascinating world of container shipping and to share a slice of life on board these giants of the seas that ply the waters of our world,” adds Tanya Saadé Zeenny, senior Vice-President Corporate Communication for CMA CGM.

Airing in France every Friday from September to December 2007 on France 3, each program will be broadcast in over 90 countries thanks to TV5, RFO and Planète Thalassa. Don’t miss this extraordinary trip into the heart of maritime shipping.
